Chris Davies severs connections with UAF, Hancock and Carmichael yet to respond

By Mark Littlewood

chris-daviesChris Davies MEP seems to be a regular topic of discussion on this blog as of late.  He deserves three cheers for swiftly condemning UAF’s bust-up of the BNP’s abortive press conference last week. But he also merits a fourth cheer for contacting UAF last week, demanding to be removed from their list of supporters.

So far, I haven’t had a reply from Alistair Carmichael or Mike Hancock, the two LibDem MPs claimed as supporters by Unite Against Fascism. You can email Alistair at and Mike at . Please do so, and ask them to withdraw from the Socialist Worker-run UAF immediately.

Chris Davies MEP: Private Eye’s “Quote of the Year”

By Julian Harris

chrisdaviesmepWith great amusement I have just discovered that someone I know personally is featured in Private Eye’s Pseuds Corner. I’ll spare their blushes with a cloak of anonymity, but feel free to turn to this edition’s twenty seventh page and guess who it is.

Alas it is not Chris Davies MEP, who I don’t know personally yet featured on our blog earlier in the week. Nonetheless, he has also failed to avoid the mockery of Hyslop’s satirists, appearing boldly on the very first page.

So pleased are they with their discovery that they have awarded Chris with “Quote of the Year”; deprived of hindsight, in February he stated as follows, thus securing the unwanted prize…

“New rules being introduced from July will make the European parliament better than the Italian parliament but leave us a long way behind practices in the House of Commons”

Oh dear! He was commenting, of course, on expense-fiddling.

Chris Davies MEP to “disassociate himself” from Westminster violence

By Julian Harris
June 10th, 2009 at 11:59 am | 4 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

chrisdaviesmepGood work by Lib Dem student Niklas Smith who has contacted the offices of Liberal Democrats associated with “Unite Against Fascism,” the group currently condoning violence and opposing free speech.

Niklas has been told by Davies’ office:

” … he [Chris] agrees that what took place yesterday is both counter productive and inappropriate, and he would disassociate himself from the actions taken.”

Lib Dem MPs Alistair Carmichael and Michael Hancock are reported to also be supporters of this group. I would urge them not only to condemn the actions of the past 24 hours, but also to distance themselves from this group entirely.

“Unite Against Fascism” are doing everything possible to promote fascism and appear little more than a belligerent collection of extremists looking for an excuse to kick off a war between communism and fascism that fortunately no longer exists.
