Vaclav Havel’s Obituary…Guardian Style.

I’m sure many bloggers and journalists feel self-conscious about writing in a public forum but this article on the passing of playwright and statesman Vaclav Havel from the Guardian’s Comment is Free (but facts are absent?) section shows that literally any old tripe can get published. I can assure you that it isn’t a parody and is one-hundred percent genuine. Here’s a snippet:

Havel’s anti-communist critique contained little if any acknowledgement of the positive achievements of the regimes of eastern Europe in the fields of employment, welfare provision, education and women’s rights. Or the fact that communism, for all its faults, was still a system which put the economic needs of the majority first.” (Neil Clark 19.12.11)

Just take a minute to savour the undiluted Marxism.

Don’t know about you but I’m already looking forward to reading his take on the death of Kim Jung-il and his impressive record of reducing income inequalities.

However you add it up the coalition is still the brake on Labour

The latest poll (by BPIX) on the state of the parties, commissioned by The Mail on Sunday, shows Ed Miliband in more than a spot of  bother. Voters think he is the wrong leader and that Labour has been rubbish in opposition….No wonder he has resorted to putting his children in front of the cameras… do politicians never learn?…. What is surprising it that Labour is still ahead in the polls…

Our vote still looks poor.. but consider the combined vote of  the Lib Dem and Tory parties…. that makes for a healthier proposition… If that is not enough… then consider the following…

” when asked if Labour would do a better job in Government than the Tory-Lib Dem alliance, the Coalition wins by 43 to 35 “

Consider what options the Coalition might consider were this September 2014 ?

My favourite bit of the poll is much less serious – but huge fun. It’s where voters were asked to compare the party leders with characters in the ITV series Downton Abbey…..

For those of you who don’t watch the programme Matthew Crawley is the somewhat earnest solicitor and heir to Downton!

Nick Clegg: Why isn’t your party as organised as this ?

Having had a revolting conference in September….. Hows about Nick sorts out a conference rally that looks something like this? That would set our coalition partners teeth on edge….and I doubt that even the glorious red brethren could deliver….. Go on Nick. Give it a go ..Afterall these are just footie supporters … Just think what a co-ordinated , cohesive party could do !

Great website…

One of the joys of writing a blog is occassionally you get people you don’t know dropping you a line and introducing you to something, weird, wacky or just plain wonderful. Today I got just one of those and it sits well and truly in the ”wonderful” category.

findasmokerA dating site for smokers. Yep that’s right.

A dating site where you can find your perfect partner and be assured of your mutual love of tobacco. No more dates when you are sitting there thinking things could not be more perfect..then you light up and suddenly it all goes south and they curl up their oh so attractive nose and bidyou an early goodnight.

Nope..this is a guaranteed copper-bottomed promise that they are going to love the stuff just as much as you .. Now all you need to do is get all the minor details sorted (you know personality, values, sexual chemistry….). How joyous is that?

Now don’t all you singles out there go rushing to the site all at once. We don’t want it crashing on us … http://www.findasmoker.co.uk/
