Drug Tsar sacked

Following on from my recent post, I have just heard on the radio that Professor Nutt – who criticised the government for distorting the facts about the dangers of cannabis – has been sacked. Well what do you expect from a government that prefers to “run” with public opinion – whipped by the the Daily Mail et al – rather than make policy on fact-based evidence.

    Perhaps this government is improving. David Nutt’s case followed recnt precedent – he was just fired for doing the job they had hired him for. I think the last case of someone actually dying in that process (no shooting involved, they never shoot the messenger) was David Kelly.

    I’ve just posted that this means Professor Nutt’s replacement will now explicitly be required to lie as a condition of employment – surely a new low even for this Labour Government.
