Ros Scott refuses to respond on expenses questions
More anonymous e-mails bouncing around this morning.
We are now informed that Ros Scott has refused to respond to the letter from “Agent Orange”, stating:
“I have a strict policy of not responding to anonymous communications”
Fair enough – but it doesn’t elucidate much for the rest of us.
So, at Liberal Vision we thought we would help by putting a real person on the end of the queries to Ros. Here’s an open letter sent to Ros this morning:
Dear Baroness Ros Scott,
Following comments made on Liberal Democrat Voice claiming that there is going to be no internal audit of Liberal Democrat peers’ expenses, and that Cowley Street has said they “do not find any grounds for believing that Lord Rennard has broken any rules regarding Lords Allowances”, I would like to ask if there is any truth in these comments.
In other words: is there (or has there been) any kind of internal party audit regarding the expenses allegations made against several Liberal Democrat peers, including Lord Rennard?
Yours faithfully,
Sara Scarlett
Liberal Democrat Member
End of letter.
Let’s hope we get some clarification on this issue before long.

I don’t think there’s any need to turn this into a personal attack on Ros. She hasn’t refused to respond to questions on expenses, so your headline is misleading at best. She’s refused to respond to an anonymous request and hasn’t yet had the chance to respond to the letter Sara has sent.

I am not interested in personal attacks either, but I am intested in the truth and so far we just seem to have got stalling and obfuscation – it’s about time we had complete clarity on the subject of Rennard’s housing entitlements and claims. The lack of this to date is an example of how I expect the other parties to behave, not us – I thought we were better than that.

I commented on Ros’ article, on LibDemVoice, as follows:
“Maybe Ros could post on whether anything was said about Lords allowances? For example, are HoL members claiming for housing that they have always lived in, having acquired out of town housing in order to be able to claim for in London housing, in the manner than Chris Rennard has been accused of doing?”
Ros has not replied. I would assume that she keeps up to date with responses to her articles on LDV, and her husband has posted since my comment, I do not think it is likely that ignorance of my comment is the issue.
Come on Ros, speak up!
