Have you seen this floating voter?

June 3rd, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized by

Winchester alienHere at Liberal Vision, we’re all in favour of a full and frank discussion of a wide range of diverse and offbeat views. And we try to keep a close watch on interesting developments in key marginal constituencies.

But the latest revelations of LibDem Winchester City Councillor Adrian Hicks are a little unusual even for our tastes. He apparently saw an extraterrestial (pictured, left) wearing a white ballerina’s outfit (as you do) meandering down Winchester High Street in early 2004.

Fearing he might be subjected to ridicule by going pubic with this extraordinary piece of news (why would you think that, councillor?), he’s kept the story under wraps until now. He seems persuaded that there is a military cover-up of alien intelligence at the nearby Chilcomb airbase. At least Cllr Hicks’ FOCUS leaflets will make a change from the usual campaigns to save local post offices.

By the way, does anyone know whether elected officials who are subject to alien abductions can designate a flying saucer as their second home for tax purposes?  Can you claim for travel to and from the planet Venus? I think we should be told.

Sounds like he belongs in the Green Party.

So Mark you are a Fortean Times reader too eh? What eclectic tastes you have. And before we laugh too much, lets not forget that Lembit Opik has been warning us of comet collisions for quite some time. ABCs (alien black cats) crop up more frequently in the Lib dem stronghold of Cornwall than anywhere else…And if we are looking at Winchester as a possible alien hotspot… I always thought Mark Oaten’s accusers looked pretty “other-worldly”. Perhaps Mark was indeed abducted and all that subsequently happened nothing more than suggested memories implanted in his head by aliens determined to hold back the great Liberal cause (beats hair-loss as an excuse- may be hair loss was a RESULT of the probes?). So Cllr Hicks might be right in thinking “he is not alone”. And with a circulation of around 20,000 a month maybe Fortean Times is an advertising outlet we should seriously consider come election time?

    Yes & so what

    I wear a dress everyday

    http://www.mensfashionfreedom.org/ziggydress.jpg

Why can’t men wear dresses & still be counted as men

I’ve built an entire philosophy dedicated to that notion http://www.mensfashionfreedom.org/

‘Here at Liberal Vision, we’re all in favour of a full and frank discussion of a wide range of diverse and offbeat views’

    Do you now?

Okay where are the posts advocating in favour of….

    gun ownership,
    prostitution,
    the gold standard,
social diversity & greater lifestyle choices

  7. Mark Littlewood Says:

    Ziggy, you are impossible.

You think there is nothing remarkable about an alien wearing a ballerina’s outfit in Winchester. But are incandescent that the NRA hasn’t had a guest article.

    Yawn.

  8. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

Mark I truly believe in diversity & therefore believe people should express themselves how they wish so long as they aren’t harming anybody

In fact I believe government needs to do more to protect diversity especially in the light of stories such as this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/7370637.stm

  9. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

    Okay Mark straight question

Do you think people such as Stephaniwe Dearden be standing for elections representing the Lib Dems

    http://www.stephaniedearden.org/

  10. Mark Littlewood Says:

Sorry, Ziggy, just seen your question.

    Of course not.

I think the only people who should be allowed to run for Parliament are white, middle class, heterosexual men educted at Oxford (I might also allow Cambridge at a push).

    They should wear suits.

They should also be members of the freemasons.

I don’t know how any reasonable person could disgaree with this.

    Obviously.

  11. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

Not sure Eugene Terreblanche would approve you forgot to mention they must also be hetrosexual meat eaters 😉

  12. Stephanie Dearden Says:

    whats all this about?

  13. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

Well started off sounding to me that Mr Littlewood was saying anybody who appears or sounds a bit oddball in the public eye shouldn’t be running for election representing the Lib Dems however that’s perception I’m sure Mark might sound otherwise.

  14. Mark Littlewood Says:

    Stephanie,

I think you’ll find that Ziggy asked a ridiculous question.

I answered it with the contempt it deserved, frankly.

I have no idea how or why he reaches some of his conclusions about other people’s (including my) opinions. There are usually completely wrong. In this case, trebly so.

  15. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

‘I have no idea how or why he reaches some of his conclusions about other people’s (including my) opinions. There are usually completely wrong. In this case, trebly so.’

This is how & why the original post at the top of the post which is making fun of a non conformist when you’re meant to be defending the right to be different.

  16. Mark Littlewood Says:

Well, that rather proves my point.

Firstly, you fail to distinguish between (a) respecting a diveristy of views and (b) believing every expressed view is legitimate.

I believe elected officials who say ridiculous things deserve to be subjected to ridicule. Claiming you saw an extra-terrestial in a ballerina’s dress on Winchester High street several years ago falls into the category “ridiculous”.

Secondly, you completely fail to distinguish between someone espousing ridiculous views and people making diverse lifestyle choices.

It’s just very poor logic. And really rather offensive.

  17. Ziggy Encaoua Says:

Okay Mark I was wrong for which I apologise & for what its worth I believe your right

However two points first off Dennis Kirincich has claimed to of seen a UFO

‘believing every expressed view is legitimate’

Thing is there are some who say every opinion is legitimate & if you don’t agree they’re scream blue murder at you somehow infringing their right to free speech.

Believe me the 9/11 truthers do a lot of that.

  18. Stephanie Dearden Says:

I see now, I was looking at it on my mobile device and couldn’t see the full gist of the discussion, now after looking on a 22″ screen it makes more sence.
